Bishop of Southeast Florida
The Right Reverend Peter Eaton was consecrated on May 9, 2015, to be the bishop coadjutor of the Diocese of Southeast Florida and was seated as the fourth Bishop Diocesan of Southeast Florida on January 30, 2016. Previously, he served as Dean of Saint John’s Cathedral, Denver, from 2002 to 2015. Bishop Eaton is an experienced parish pastor, teacher, and community leader, and has served in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, and Salt Lake City, Utah, as well as in England and France. The Reverend Canon John Tidy
Canon to the Ordinary
Prior to his appointment, John served as priest-in-charge and then Rector of All Souls’, Miami Beach, for eleven years. He came to Southeast Florida from the Diocese of Jerusalem where he held interim roles as Dean of St. George’s College and St. George’s Cathedral. He had previously served there as Dean of the Cathedral during the second Intifada in the 1990’s. John is a native Englishman. He graduated from King’s College, London, and was ordained to the Diocese of Durham in 1973 where he served two parishes before moving south to West Yorkshire, from where he left for Jerusalem. He later returned to the western suburbs of London to serve as Vicar of a large parish with two congregations and two historic buildings. In Southeast Florida, John has served on the Commission on Ministry, taught New Testament at Diocesan School, is an Examining Chaplain, and served on the Bishop Search Committee. Most recently he has served two terms as President of the Standing Committee, and coordinated the consultation process across the diocese in collaboration with Susan Czolgosz and Holy Cow! Consulting. He brings to the role a breadth of experience and insight into the challenges of ministry in both a small and large church settings in a time of rapid change.
The Venerable Canon Dr. J. Fritz Bazin
Archdeacon for Immigration and Social Justice
The Venerable Jean Fritz Bazin, D. Min., was appointed Archdeacon for Immigration and Social Justice in the fall of 2007. A native of Haiti, Bazin is fluent in four languages and moves easily among the many ethnic groups in the Diocese of Southeast Florida. Archdeacon Bazin received both his bachelor’s in Theology and a master’s degree in Divinity from the Episcopal Theological Seminary of the Caribbean in Puerto Rico. He was ordained to the priesthood in 1967 and went on to serve churches in Haiti, in Jamaica, Barbados and Brooklyn, New York. In 1980, he was named Human Rights Officer for the Caribbean Conference of Churches, based in Barbados. In that position, he also served as liaison officer for French and Latin American territories. All enquiries and matters relating to seminarians and those still in the ordination process will be handled by Gail. Please remember that the ordination process as a whole remains closed and under review; she will continue to look after those who were already in the process under Bishop Frade (prior to its suspension). Eduardo S. Rivera
Interim Director of Communications
Mr. Eduardo S. Rivera, M.Div., is on the board of FORMA, an organization that celebrates, equips, supports and connects leaders who form followers of Jesus. He is the Managing Editor of Education for Ministry-Latinx Edition at Sewanee and serves on the Council of Advice of the Missioner for Latino Ministries in The Episcopal Church. In addition to his many years of ministry in various capacities, Eduardo brings a wealth of experience in publishing, multimedia production and management, marketing, and public relations. He lives in Hollywood with his loving spouse and four beautiful children.
