The
Celebration and Thanksgiving for the Episcopate of
The Right Reverend Calvin O. Schofield, Jr.
and for the Ministry of Elaine Schofield.
Trinity Episcopal Cathedral
Miami, FL
The Feast of Pentecost
June 11, 2000

Trinity Cathedral was full for the service honoring Bp. Schofield.

"Too loud!"
Elaine Schofield, seated with daughter Susan and son-in-law
Parke Street,
tells grandson Christopher Street
that the loud organ music won't last much longer.

"I'm overwhelmed."
Bp. Schofield expresses thanks for the gifts presented from
the Diocese
A Steuben crystal sculpture representing a sailboat, and a check
for $26,000.

Bp. Schofield has joked
that he's trading his crozier for a boathook,
and friends made sure he got one appropriately purple.

Friends at the bishop's former parish, St. Andrew's, Miami,
remembered he'd said a picnic on the beach would be the ideal
retirement party,
so they provided a hot dog and a bag of sand.

A surprise guest, the "Vatican emissary"
(Canon Fred Masterman) presented the bishop with such treasured
relics as
"a chicken bone from the rooster that blew the whistle
on St. Peter."

(at banquet) The bishop enjoys the presentations at the banquet.
